How it works »
Our application is completely online. Below you'll see checklist of everything we ask for in our online application. You can prepare everything in advance and fill out your application all at once, or do it in stages -- it's up to you!
Technical Requirements »
Before you get started, make sure you're ready to go. You'll want to use an updated browser like Safari 3 or better or Firefox 3 or better and high speed internet access. If you experience any weird glitches, make sure you have a new version of your Flash plugin and Flash and JavaScript and cookies enabled. Below you'll see use request either pdf or rtf documents. Don't just simply rename your files with this suffix. What we're looking for is for you to save them that way, otherwise we can't read them anyway.

Resume/Bio Statement »
We'd like to learn more about what you've been up to. Prepare a resume, bio statement [ 500 words or less ], or both. We don't need to know when you took your first steps, but we'd love to learn what makes you unique.
For us, the most important part of your application is this part right here. We don't have a magic formula. Experience isn't a must. We're looking for passionate, committed people, who like to keep crazy hours, love to tell stories, and aren't afraid to talk to strangers. You know why you want to be here. You know what makes you unique. Now tell us why we should choose YOU.
[ 2-4 pages, double-spaced, ish. ]
Don't let this part scare you. We want to see//hear//read how you tell stories. Whether it's your first time or your tenth time, we want you hit the streets and find a great story to tell.
WRITING: 2 written pieces, at least 1 nonfiction [ 3 pages or less, double-spaced // Excerpts accepted ]
RADIO: 2 audio pieces, at least 1 nonfiction // 4 minutes or less each [ MAX: 12MB each ]
1) Follow the directions above.
2) Keep it SIMPLE: Do not include extra photos, video, fancy background, transitions, etc.
3) Resize your images to 72dpi / 9x6 inches - at the largest.
TWO Letters of Recommendation » Find two recommenders (professional or educational) who can best speak to your abilities, work ethic, and character. During the online application process, instructions will be sent to your recommenders on how to upload your recommendation at your request. Make sure you have contacted your recommenders ahead of time so that they can prepare your recommendation letter in advance. Then, they will upload it once to our system, once they've received instructions.
NOTE » Your recommendation letters must be received by the due date in order for your application to be complete.
Transcripts » Have all official post-secondary transcripts sent to: PO BOX 7800 // Portland, ME 04112-7800
Please request them well in advance of the due date.

$45 Application Fee » You may pay this fee by check or credit card.
During the online application process, you will be able to submit a credit card payment.
